Vernie Lou Elkins 76, of Danville passed away June 22, 2013. She was born May 13, 1937 to the late Ward & Thelma Huffman. She was preceded in death by her husband Clifford Elkins, son Stanley Elkins, sisters: Martha, June, Sybil, and Lena, and brother John.

She leaves behind to cherish her loving memories children: Diane (Max) Hager; Lisa (Paul) Searls; Sarah Berry; Barry Elkins; Jamie (Shawna) Elkins; and Susie Elkins widow of her son Stanley; brothers Claude and Bud; 13 grandkids; and 17 great grandkids. We love you Mom and will miss you dearly.

We would like to say a special thank you to all the wonderful nurses and staff of Hubbard Hospice House of Charleston as well as the Boone County nurses and staff for the wonderful care that was given to our mom in her last days and for accommodating the family throughout the time of our loss.

Funeral services will be 2:00pm Tuesday, June 25, 2013 at Handley Funeral Home Danville. Burial will follow in Danville Memorial Park. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
