Roger Vance, 67, of Bob White, WV went to his heavenly home on Thursday, May 7th, 2015 at 9:07 am after battling a long illness.
He was born October 12, 1947 and was a son of the late Dennis and Geneva Vance, both of Bob White, WV. Roger was a hard working man who dedicated his life to The Lord. He was a member of Crown Freewill Baptist Church. He loved preaching and spent many hours visiting and making memories with the wonderful friends he made while serving as a Pastor to several churches in the area. He spent nearly 42 years working in the coal mines where he retired in 2006. He had a love for the outdoors and enjoyed hunting with his brothers and fishing with his grandchildren.
He met the love of his life, Katherine "Kitty" Hoosier, in May of 1965. They were married six months later on November 25th and spent 50 wonderful years together. He was a loving husband, father, "Papa", brother and brother-in-law.
Those left to cherish his memory include wife; Kitty Vance of Bob White. Daughters; Crystal (David) Zarbatany of California, Terra Vance Dingess of North Carolina. Granddaughters; Jordyn, Jillian, Addison and Alyvia. Brothers; Charles (Diane) of Amherstdale, Harold (Vicky) of Hendersonville, NC, Toney of Weaverville, NC and Michael (Susan) of Burnsville, NC. Sisters; Patricia (Eddie) Ball of Bob White and Sherry (Jay) Boughman of Morganton, NC. He will also be remembered by a host of friends.
Services will be held at 2 pm on Sunday, May 10th at Handley Funeral Home in Danville, WV with the Reverend George Nelson officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service; burial will follow immediately after at Greene's Cemetery at Bim.
