Lynda Sharon Aliff

Lynda Sharon Aliff passed away on March 26, 2022 at the age of 79, at her home in Foster, WV with her family by her side.

She was preceded in death by her mother Bernice Dooley; her father Clair Browning; brothers Gary Browning, and Stephen Browning; and sister Sandra Browning.

Sharon was born to Bernice and Claire Browning on June 12, 1942. At the age of 16 she became the church pianist for the Matheny Church of God and would walk to and from church while attending faithfully. In 1960 she was the Church of God National Bible Quiz Champion. She graduated from Oceana High School in 1960 with highest honors. Sharon had a love for singing which lead her to join three gospel singing groups throughout her lifetime: The Browning Sisters, The Jubileers, and The Sounds of Harmony of which the last two groups her husband was also a member. While with The Sounds of Harmony, she recorded two albums. She also wrote many gospel songs, some of which were included on the albums.

Sharon married Edsel Aliff in July 1964. They were lifelong companions. They were blessed with four children, Jennifer, Brian, Jodi, and Shauna.

Sharon began working as a secretary for a private lawyer before becoming the secretary for the Wyoming County Circuit Court judge. She then went on to work as a secretary for the WV State Police in Wyoming county. She and Edsel moved to Wayne County in 1970, where she owned a small fabric shop. In 1975 they moved to Logan County where she went to work for the WV Department of Rehabilitation. In 1979 she and Edsel moved to Foster, WV where they have lived for 43 years. Besides being a singer, songwriter, and pianist, Sharon also enjoyed sewing, cake decorating, cooking, gardening, vacationing, and annual get togethers with her brothers and sisters. Sharon was a faithful member of Fountain of Life Worship Center in Danville.

She is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Edsel Aliff; her four children, Jennifer (Ronnie) Elkins, Brian Aliff, Jodi (Toby) Little, and Shauna Bower; seven grandchildren, Adam Elkins, Travis Elkins, Ronni Elkins, Karah Little, Brayden Little, Alex Bower, and Lindy Bower; seven great-grandchildren, Aiden, Abigail, Rylan, Landon, Cooper, Annabelle, and Tucker; three brothers, Norman (Lisa) Browning, Nolan (Freda) Browning, and Raymond (Linda) Browning; and two sisters, Carolyn (George) Becker), and Leisha (David) Brotherton.

The family would like to express thanks to Dignity Hospice.

Funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 30 at Handley Funeral Home in Danville, WV with Stacy Dingess officiating. Burial will follow in Danville Memorial Park on Indian Grave Road, Danville, WV.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
