Lou "Vernie" Porter

Lou “Vernie” Porter 86 of Branchland, WV passed away Saturday April 25, 2020. She was born November 7, 1933 in Lawton Kentucky a daughter of the late Willard and Arlie Mae Crank Jeffrey. She had been a homemaker for 70 years and a long time member of Camp Branch United Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Calvin Porter of 63 years; a son-in-law Jr. Hatfield, and daughter-in-law Sharon Synersticker Porter.
She is survived by her four daughters Brenda (Thomas) Porter, Diana (Mike) Porter, Phyllis (Don) Porter and Sharon Hatfield; son Phil (Cheryl) Porter; four granddaughters Jessica (David) Vance, Amanda (John) Cummings, Heather (Bobby) Gibson and Makayla Porter; four grandsons Kevin (Peggy) Porter, Brent (Laura) Porter, Brandon (Shelly) Porter, and Jonathan (Krystal) Hatfield; 11 great grandchildren; 5 great- great grandchildren; one sister Jewel Parsons; two sisters-in-law Herma Nelson and Barbara Cooper; and a host of brothers and sisters in Christ.
Due to the Covid 19 virus a private family service will be held Tuesday April 28, 2020 at McGhee-Handley Funeral Home West Hamlin WV with Bobby Burns and Alan Frye officiating. Burial will follow at Porter Hatfield Cemetery Branchland, WV.
