Karen Ann Roberts McClure

November 4, 1949 — April 6, 2019

Karen Ann Roberts McClure of Teays Valley, WV departed her earthly life at 8 o’clock p.m. on April 6, 2019 at the Hubbard House in South Charleston, WV.

Karen’s life began on November 4, 1949 in Madison, WV where she was born to the late H.E. Scott and Elva E. Roberts of Danville, WV. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brothers, CC “Sonny” Griffith (Geri) and Joseph Roberts (Peg).

After graduating from Scott High School in 1968 she took her first job with D & B Service for a short time. She then took a position as accounting clerk at the Glover Clinic until she was expecting her first child. Karen returned to work at the Ramsey Dairy Queen in 1987 to 1999. She then took a position with Walmart until she retired in 2014.

Karen was married in August 1969 and had her first child “BJ” James A. McClure in 1971, and her second child, “Beth” Elizabeth A. Pauley in 1979.

Karen was a child of God and became a Christian during a revival in the early 1970’s with her son by her side. All of those who were blessed to know Karen, knew that she was a homebody, and truly enjoyed watching and feeding nature’s wildlife each day. She loved the beauty of the sunsets from her front door. Her favorite place to visit was the ocean where she enjoyed long walks looking for shells and shark teeth. She foremost loved her family and friends unconditionally. She always put her children and grandchildren before her own needs.

Karen will be forever remembered, loved, and missed by her son, BJ McClure (Jim Shearer); grandson, Cayden of Teays Valley, WV; daughter, Beth Pauley (Russ Pauley); grandson, Reece and granddaughter, Tagan of Wauseon, OH; along with so many family and friends.

Special thanks you to all the beautiful doctors and nurses at Teays Valley CAMC and the Hubbard House in South Charleston. We were truly blessed by all the love and support given to us during our darkest time. Our hearts are forever broken and will forever mourn our sweet and loving Mother/Grandmother. Fly high our sweet angel until we meet again.

Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 10 at Handley Funeral Home in Danville with Chuck Gillispie officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens, Madison.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
