Esclene Muncy-Moore

August 5, 1926 — April 16, 2014

Esclene Muncy Moore, 87, of Madison, West Virginia, formerly of Sharples, West Virginia, passed away April 16, 2014 at Boone Memorial Hospital following an extended stay. She was a member of Coal Valley Church of Clothier, West Virginia, but had attended West Madison Baptist since moving to Madison.

She was born August 5, 1926 in Martin County, Kentucky to Samuel Isaac and Tamsy (Preece) Muncy of Pilgrim, KY. She married Albert Moore, Jr. on August 18, 1941. They were married 55 years when he passed away in 1996. They were blessed with eight children.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Albert Moore, Jr.; sons: Samuel and Fred Moore; daughters-in-law Linda and Carol Moore; brothers: James Sherman, Abraham Lincoln, Lemuel Harvey and Thomas Arthur; sisters: Elsie Wooten, Thelma Boyles, Rilda Fannin and many brothers- and sisters-in-law.

Our precious mother loved her family and friends very much. She taught each one of us patience, kindness and love. Surviving her are six children: Ellen Wells, Louisville, Kentucky; Janet (Paul) Miller, Gahanna, Ohio; Albert Moore, Carroll, Ohio; Danny (Sue) Moore and Shirley (Jerry) Thompson, Danville, West Virginia; and Howard (Barb) Moore, Jeffrey, West Virginia; sisters: Winnie Muncy and Martha Jane (Leonard) Moore; sisters in law: Edythe Muncy, Bertina Moore and Jean Moore; brothers-in-law: Richard Whalen and Marvin Adams.

Also surviving her are 16 grandsons: Sammy Moore, Tommy (Tilah) Moore, Danny Ray (Linda) Moore, Scott (Pam) Wells, John (Amy) Wells, Paul Miller Jr., Rick (Heather) Miller, Dell (Michelle) Moore, Clyde Hughes, Kris (Lauren) Moore, Danny Bruce (Michelle) Moore, Jason (Shellee) Moore, Joe (Kandace) Thompson, Jeremy (Jenn) Thompson, Jon (Ann) Thompson, James (Lissa) Moore; two granddaughters: Tawnia (Dan) Schottenstein and Samantha Moore. Additionally, 21 great-grandsons and 13 great-granddaughters survive her along with one great-grandson due in May and a host of nieces and nephews.

She had two very special neighbors that became her grandkids. They came and visited with her, made her laugh, and did little things for her: the late Parker Graffius and Jessica Miller.
