Charles Ray Merritt, 69, of Branchland, WV was born February 26, 1953 and passed away at home on July 28, 2022. He was born in West Hamlin, WV a son of the late Arthur Merritt of Branchland, WV. In addition to his Dad he was preceded in death by his two brothers Acie Merritt and Mark Merritt; and one sister Bettey Thacker.
He is survived by his mother, Reanice “Sis” Hale; one daughter, Dorthy Jo Merritt of Huntington, WV; two sons, Little Charlie Merritt Jr. of Huntington, WV and Jason Parsons of West Hamlin, WV; three grandchildren, Sara Merritt and Charlie Girl Merritt and Jaden Parsons; one sister, Debra Ann and Bill Jeffery of West Hamlin, WV; five brothers, Harold “Bundy” and Bonnie Hale, Keith and Penny Hale all of Branchland, WV, Earl “Pnut” and Ann Merritt of Huntington, WV, Delbert Merritt of Montgomery, WV, and John and Charlotte Hale of Clinton, NC; lots of nieces and nephews, one special niece Misty and husband Mickey McCallister of Branchland, WV; and longtime Best Friends, roger and Tammy Adkins of West Hamlin, WV, Lonnie Wilson of West Hamlin, WV and Chet Adkins of Fort Worth, TX.
Service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 2, 2022 at Mc-Ghee Handley Funeral Home in West Hamlin with Lonnie Wilson officiating.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
