Betty Arbutus Barker, 89, of Costa went home to be with the Lord on December 16, 2018.
She was born March 20, 1929, the daughter of Fred and Aliena Kinder. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her son, Patrick; brother, Ray Kinder; sisters, Hestor Barker and Ruby Chandler; granddaughters, Megan and Medina Barker; as well as her loving husband of 67 years, Russel Barker.
She was a member of Brushton Methodist Church. She was a loving, generous and compassionate soul with a smile that would light up a room.
Those left to cherish her memory are, son, Mike (Diane) Barker of Nitro; daughters, Patsie (Rick) Wilson of Delaware, Ohio, Diana (Wayne) Elkins of Ashford, Sue (Jerry) Wills of Nellis, Debbie (Russ) Barre of South Charleston, and Robin Starnes ( George H) of Gastonia, NC; 15 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you make a donation in memory of Betty to the Alzheimer’s Association.
A celebration of Betty’s life will begin at 1 p.m. Wednesday, December 19 at Ashford Church of God with Pastor Randel Kinder officiating. Burial will follow in Barker Cemetery, Ashford.
A gathering of family and friends will be from 11:30 a.m. until service time at the church.
