Sandra Sue (Chandler) Holstein, 73, of Danville, West Virginia died Monday, September 4, 2017 at home surrounded by family after her battle with cancer. In death she was in good spirits and is now at peace.
Sandra was born December 8, 1943 and was the daughter of Elva (Hoosier) Chandler and the late Shelby Chandler. She was in the graduation class at Scott High School in 1961.
Sandra had a soft, loving personality with an infectious smile who could talk to anyone. She was the true definition of a caregiver and loved her family so much. She loved her husband and son incredibly and her grandchildren were the light of her life. When her great-grandchildren came through the door with open arms nothing made her happier. Sandra loved to quilt and craft, and in her previous years she set up at craft shows throughout the state and was on the board of directors of Cabin Creek Quilts alongside her mother.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her brother, Nelwyn Chandler who was her only sibling.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Danny J. Holstein; one child, their son, Joe (Lisa) of Danville; grandchildren, Brooke (Donovan) Pearson, Katie (Cole) Brown, and Matthew Holstein all of Danville; and great-grandchildren, Lydia Pearson, Luke Pearson, and Creed Brown. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters-in-law, cousins, friends, and loved ones.
The family would like to thank Dignity Hospice for their dedicated care. We would especially like to thank Mary Mitchell who is also a neighbor and friend.
Service will be 11 a.m. Friday, September 8 at Handley Funeral Home, Danville with Doug McComas and Chuck Gillispie officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens, Madison.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
