Ronnie Kent Salmons, 66, of West Hamlin, WV went home to be with the Lord Thursday, July 2, 2014, at Cleveland Clinic.
He was born May 6, 1948, a son of the late Leonard Ray and Elba Marie Thompson Salmons. He was a supervisor for the Department of Highways and a member of Salt Rock Community Church. He loved writing poems and sharing them with everyone. He was also preceded in death by a son Christopher Salmons; and step-mom Mildred Salmons.
He is survived by his wife Rena; son, Ronnie Salmons II (Donna), of Jeffersonville Kentucky; daughters, Rhonda Burns of West Hamlin and Roxanna Ferguson (Dale) of Branchland; grandchildren, Tosha Spence, Megan Burns, Leonard Ferguson Jr. "DJ", Andria Vinson (BJ), Alexis Ferguson, Randall Ferguson and Madison Ferguson; brothers, Steve, Keith, Tommy, Ike, Micheal and Wayne Salmons; sisters, Sharon Matheny and Terri Lynn Reasor; several nieces and nephews; and his loving Christian family at Salt Rock Community Church.
Funeral service will be 2:00 pm Sunday, July 6, 2014 at McGhee Handley Funeral Home, West Hamlin with Jason Salmons officiating. Burial will follow at Harvey's Creek Cemetery, Hamlin.
Viewing will be from 6 to 8 pm Saturday at the funeral home.
