Mary Victoria Cornell

Mary Victoria Cornell, 86, of Charleston formerly of Ashford, WV went to be with the Lord on March 29, 2014 at the Hubbard Hospice House in Charleston after a short illness.
Mary was born on December 16, 1927, in Ashford. She was the daughter of the late Myrtle Kirk Walker and the late Fred Kirk. Mary was also preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Rev. Billy Cornell and her brother, Vernon Kirk.
She was currently attending Emmanuel Baptist Church but her lifelong membership was at Mahone United Methodist Chapel. She was married to the late Rev. Billy Cornell where she worshiped and served at many area churches.
They were blessed with a large and loving family, three daughters and one son and their families; Beverly and Jeffrey Hess of Charleston, Pamela and Bruce Lankford of Orlando, Florida, Renee and Greg Weaver of Charleston, and Vincent Billy and Angela Cornell of Winfield; seven grandchildren, Ed Carson, Jessica Morris, James Evan Hammond, Natalie Hess, Elizabeth Hammond, Tyler Vincent Cornell and Collin Kirk Cornell; three great-grandchildren, Brittany Douglas, Trevor Carson and Gavin Douglas; nephews, Greg and Kevin Kirk and James and Chris Trusley. She is also survived by two sisters Gail Epling of Ashford and Alice Trusley of Homosassa, Florida.
The funeral service will be held Monday, March 31, at 11:00 a.m. at Emmanuel Baptist Church, Charleston with the Rev. Ron Stoner officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, South Charleston.
Friends may call at the church one hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to the Hubbard Hospice House, 1001 Curtis Price Way, Charleston, WV 25311.
The family would like to express their extreme gratitude to the Hospice staff for the excellent and loving care given to Mary.
