Lillian Marie Jarrell

December 29, 1921 — January 19, 2015

Lillian Marie Jarrell, a lifetime resident of the Pond Fork area and more recently a resident at Black Diamond Arbor Housing, passed away at Hubbard House in Charleston on Jan. 19, 2015 surrounded by many of her family members and friends. She celebrated her 93rd birthday on Dec. 29th.

Lillian was born to Roscoe and Mildred McComas on Dec. 29, 1921 in Conway Springs, Kansas. She had four beautiful sisters who preceded her in death, Mary Frances Persinger, Margaret Albright, Dorothy Canfield and Jessie Lambert. She is survived by her brother, Eugene McComas of Muncie, Indiana.

She was proud of her cooking abilities and was known for her making the best cornbread and rolls. She loved having her friends and family visit her often. Most of all she enjoyed playing a game of Rook with her family members and always winning. We will all miss her so much for her stories she told about the old days and how much things have changed over the years.

When they were young, Lillian married the love of her life, Finley Jarrell. Together they had five children. They were together until April 9, 1978 when Finley passed away. Surviving are sons, Larry Jarrell of West Hamlin and Conway Jarrell of Van; daughters, Louwania Pickavance of Bigfork, Montana, Nanita Dailey of Vonore, Tenn. and Faye Lynn Cregger of Madison.

Also surviving are 18 grandchildren and many great and great-great-grandchildren. For the last seven months of her life her oldest granddaughter, Chenna Stiles has lovingly cared for her along with Hospice nurses and personnel.

The family would like to thank Home Hospice, Melanie, Missy, Libby and Marilyn of Home Hospice; Kitty, Sharon and Trista of Hospice House; and a special thank you to Melinda Treadway with Community Action.

Services will be 2 pm Friday, January 23, 2015 at Handley Funeral Home, Danville with the Rev. Phil Rowe and Jeff Howerton officiating. Interment will follow in Jarrell Cemetery, Wharton.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
