Leon Burl Sowers, 87, of Washington, DC formerly of WV passed away on November 22, 2013.
He was born May 9, 1926 and was a son of the late James W. and Flora M. (Price) Sowers. He was also preceded in death by siblings, Josephine Banks, Henry Sowers, Robert Sowers, Emery Sowers, Justine Sowers and John Wesley Sowers.
He is survived by a brother, Phelus Jack Sowers and his wife Annie of Zanesville, Ohio; and a host of nieces and nephews.
A special thanks to his great-nephew, William Banks, Jr. and his wife Michelle of Stafford, Virginia and Dorothy Peart of Washington, DC.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, December 2, 2013 at Donel C. Kinnard Memorial State Veterans Cemetery, Dunbar, WV.
Arrangements by Handley Funeral Home, Danville.
