Howard J. Porter, 84 of Branchland, WV passed away December 19, 2013 at St. Mary's Medical Center after a short illness. He was a proud veteran of WWII and the Korean War.
He was born January 30, 1929 and was the son of the late Linzy and Martha Isaacs Porter. He was preceded in death by his wife Virgie and a daughter, Ellen-Sue.
He was survived by six children: Edna and Eddie McComas; Rodney and Jackie Porter; Roger and Susan McCallister all of Branchland, WV; Donald and Kathy Porter of Belleville, Illinois; Chester and Ruth Porter of Branchland and Calvin Porter and Tonya Haney with whom he lived. Also by eleven grandchildren; sixteen great-granchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. Also by three sisters Addie Moore, Sally Watson and Lucille Exline and a brother Gilbert.
Funeral service will be 1:00 PM Sunday December 22, 2013 at Mt. Zion Freewill Baptist Church of Branchland. Burial will follow in Porter Family Cemetery, Branchland. Viewing will be after 6 PM Saturday at the church. McGhee-Handley Funeral Home, West Hamlin, WV is in charge of arrangements.
