Emyl Edward Carroll

August 4, 1925 — January 10, 2014

Emyl Edward Carroll, 88, of Bob White, left this earthly life peacefully at home on January 10, 2014 surrounded by his wife and loved ones. Emyl succumbed to an extended illness and fought a good fight.

Born August 4, 1925 he was a son of the late Benjamin Franklin “Tom” and Flora Carroll. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Thomas “Bud” Carroll.

He was a US Army veteran, having proudly served his country during World War II. He was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 5578, Madison, WV. He finished his work life of 35 years as a UMWA member with Eastern Associated Coal Company.

Those left to cherish his memory are his loving and devoted wife of 67 years, Clara Pearl Carroll; one daughter, Emily Kay (Larry) Blevins of Van; granddaughter/caregiver, Marettta Lynn Cregger Keough of Bob White; grandsons, Rick (Christie) Cregger of James Creek and Ben (Crystal) Carroll of Clarksville, TN; granddaughter, Amanda (Barry) Markin of Clarksville, TN; six great-grandchildren, Jacklyn (Chris) Kennedy of Dunbar, Hunter Cregger and Gabbie Cregger both of James Creek, twins, Mallory and Carson Carroll of Clarksville, TN, Henry Markin of Clarksville, TN; and one great-great-grandchild, Xander Lee Emyl Kennedy of Dunbar, WV.

All assistance rendered by Dr. Ron Stollings and Dignity Hospice and others is deeply appreciated by the family.

Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, January 13, 2014 at Handley Funeral Home, Danville with Pastor David Cook officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens, Madison with military graveside rites performed by Daniel Boone VFW Post 5578, Madison, WV.

Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
