Eileen Vickers Osborne

February 23, 1927 — October 12, 2013

Eileen Vickers Osborne of Greenwood went to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 12, 2013. She was born to Wattie Oakie and Desta Mae Vickers from Laredo, West Virginia on February 23, 1927. She was also preceded in death by her loving husband, Earnest Lee Osborne of 67 years; one brother, Wandell Vickers; and one sister, Juanita Dillon.

She is survived by nine children, Richard (Janice) Osborne of Logan, Ladonna Pack of Millers Creek, NC, Phillip Osborne (Micki) of Lilburn, GA, Janice Alcantar (Sergio) of Richmond, VA, David Osborne of Greenwood, WV, Kathy Elkins (Michael) of Bob White, WV, Gail Saunders (Larry) of Madison, WV, Nancy Foray (Tom) of Rutledge, TN and Timothy Osborne (Lisa) of Charleston, WV; 12 grandchildren Sean, Steve, Allison, Amber, Angela, Amy, Chad, Shane, Rachel, Ryan, Seth, Adam; 18 great grandchildren; eight brothers and sisters, Harold (Vinie) Vickers NC, James (Janet) Vickers WV, Loretta Hawkins FL, Audie (Tereasa) Vickers AR, Cecilia (Sonny) Miller WV, Billy (Joyce) Vickers WV, Jimmy (Camille) Vickers FL and Terry Vickers NC. She was blessed to have a host of loving nieces, nephews and friends.

She was a devoted member of the Greenwood Church of God, and active in the Ladies Ministry. Her life was a living testimony of her love for God, and she freely shared the Gospel with everyone she encountered. Her heart and home were always opened to family, friends and her community. She loved to cook and bake; and her homemade “Kraut” was loved by many. Her fondest moments were family gatherings and her eyes would sparkle with pride when she lovingly spoke of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She will forever remain in our hearts through the values she instilled, her laughter and quick wit. Someday we will re-join our loving Mother and Father, Earnest and Eileen, in the ultimate, eternal, heavenly family re-union.

Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 16 at Handley Funeral Home, Danville with the Rev. Donnie Elam officiating. Burial will follow in Danville Memorial Park, Danville.

Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
