Daniel Edward Holstein, 66, of Julian passed away on Sunday, January 26, 2014 from a long illness.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Louise Holstein and father, Joe Holstein; sisters, Glady Hager, Catherine Holstein and Hester Mitchell; brother, Glen Holstein; son-in-law, Brian Hall; and his faithful sidekick. . . Izzy.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. He was a two year Army veteran, retired coal miner and a retired mechanic from Boone County Schools.
He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Sharon Holstein; son, Billy Christian (wife, Paula); daughters, Lora Workman (husband, Vernon) and Katie Sands (husband, JR); grandchildren, Brandon Angel (wife, Lauren), Derek Angel (wife, Misty), Alyssa and Willen Christian and Blaine Hall; great-grandchildren, Connor and Gavin Angel; sisters, Betty Amon and Madeline Kendrick; brothers, Melvin, Billy, Gene and Marvin Holstein; and many friends and family. He will be greatly missed.
Service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, January 30, 2014 at Handley Funeral Home, Danville with Jimmy Lawrence officiating. Burial will follow in Hill Cemetery, Julian.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
