Christa Jean Carrico

Christa Jean Carrico, 81, of Julian, WV passed away on Sunday, June 25, 2017 at Logan Regional Medical Center after a courageous and awe-inspiring ten year battle with health issues.

She is survived in the immediate family by her son, Richard Carrico, Jr. of Julian, WV; one cousin, Carol Trammell of Hilton Head, SC; and one brother, Ferrell Holt and his wife Mona of Oak Ridge, TN and his two daughters, Jan Rowland and her husband Tim and their two children, Mason and Serenity Rowland of Durham, NC and Michele Owens and her two children, Joshua and Sarah Rittenberry.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Chris and Julia Ferrell Holt of Sharples, WV; and brother, Larry Holt of Charleston.

Christa was a retired elementary school teacher with Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Elementary Education.

She retired in 1988 and had 34 years of service in the Logan County School System at Spruce Grade School, producing many outstanding students and achievers in a multitude of professions later in adult life.

“Mrs. Carrico”, as she was so affectionately and widely known, will be greatly remembered and missed by family, friends, and all who truly knew her.

She loved all animals …..especially cats…..more than anyone could ever imagine. They were "her hobby" for a lifetime.

She will be Eternally Loved and very deeply missed by her son, Rick.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, July 1, 2017 at Handley Funeral Home in Danville, WV, with viewing and visitation one hour before the service. Pastor Johnny Barker will be officiating.

Burial will be at Boone Memorial Park, Madison, following the service.
