Arvin Ray Chambers

August 3, 1939 — July 18, 2015

Arvin Ray Chambers of Missouri Fork went to be with his heavenly father on July 18, 2015 surrounded by his family at CAMC Memorial Hospital, Charleston.

He was born to and preceded in death by his father Dinnie Bass Chambers and mother Chattie Blanche (Elkins) Chambers. He was also preceded in death by four brothers Herbert, Walton, Pete and Carrol; six sisters Inez, Mina, Eller, Icie, Ethel and Audrey; and special granddaughter Jennifer Dawn Chambers.

He is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Trish; four sons, Arvil Chambers (Jennifer) of Madison, Kevin Chambers (April) of Six Mile, Ronald Kirk Chambers of Waynesville, NC and John Chambers (Kim) of Winchester, Ohio; one daughter, Elizabeth Eifler (Peter) of Germany; six grandchildren, David Rubley of Germany, Christian Eifler of Germany, Matthew Chambers of Atlanta, GA, Mattias Eifler of Germany, Traci Chambers of Madison, Kayla Rubley “His Shadow” of Ohio, Gage Chambers of Six Mile and Blake Chambers of Six Mile; two brothers, Jimmy Chambers (Diana) of Missourri Fork and Edgar Chambers; one sister, Dora Brancato of Michigan; and two special great-granddaughters who carried a special place in his heart, Journee Mae Akers and Arianna Bran’nee Chambers.

Arvin was born on August 3, 1939 and raised on Missouri Fork. He was a retired member of the UMWA where he met most of his lifelong friends. He was also a member of Rock Lick Beagle Club and a member of Meadow Fork Freewill Baptist Church for over 50 years, where his angelic singing voice will continue to be heard for years to come. Some of his hobbies included gardening, raising beagles and running his rabbit dogs. His favorite thing to do was spend time with his children and grandchildren. Anyone that knew Arvin will remember him for his outgoing personality, quirky jokes and his devotion to his family and friends. Your presence we miss, your memories we treasure, loving you always, forgetting you never.

Service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 22, 2015 at Handley Funeral Home, Danville with Cecil Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens, Godby. Pallbearers will be Matthew Chambers, Gage Chambers, Jason Chambers, Junior Aleshire, Nolan Aleshire and Billy Woody.

Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Meadow Fork Freewill Baptist Church, Hewett.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Meadow Fork Freewill Baptist Church.
